He has received three Prism Award nominations in the category of 'Performance in a TV Drama Series Episode' for the years 2004, 2008 and 2009. He has also received one Emmy nomination in the 'Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series' category for the year of 2006. Aside from his role as Stabler, Meloni is likely best known for his role in the HBO series Oz, as inmate Chris Keller. I've never seen Oz, so I can't say much for this role of his.
I just think it's neat how he can play both a criminal and a detective. (Never mind that a lot of actors can play opposite roles.)Christopher Meloni has appeared in many other television shows, some in single-episode roles (eg. as a pediatrician on the comedy Scrubs) and recurring roles (NYPD Blue and Dinosaurs, for example). He's also appeared in movies, such as Runaway Bride, the Harold and Kumar films, and Nights in Rodanthe. From what I have seen of his other works, I'd say he is a versatile actor who can do both serious and conflicted roles as well as silly and more light-hearted ones.
